  • Why Choose Polyurethane?

Polyurethane is an optimal product for injecting foundation cracks from the inside. Many contractors use epoxy for injection, but polyurethane is more flexible for the movements of your foundation.

This flexibility allows the material to adapt to ground fluctuations and stresses, reducing the risk of further cracking as your building naturally moves and settles.

  • Steps for Injecting Cracks with Polyurethane

Polyurethane crack injection is an effective method of sealing cracks in foundations and preventing water infiltration. Here are the steps our team of specialists follow to guarantee a high-quality, long-lasting job:

    1. Crack Assessment: Before starting the injection process, our experts carry out a full assessment of the crack. This enables us to determine the extent of the damage and choose the best repair method.
    2. Hole Drilling: We drill holes at a 45-degree angle every 6 inches along the crack. These holes serve as injection points for the polyurethane, allowing complete coverage of the crack.
    3. Installation of Injection Ports: Injection ports with grease nipples are screwed into the drilled holes. These ports are linked to the high-pressure pumps that will be used to inject the polyurethane.
    4. Crack Rinsing: The crack is then rinsed with a mild acid to remove any dust, dirt, or debris that could prevent injection. This process is carried out from port to port to ensure that the crack is completely cleaned.
    5. Water Rinsing: Once the acid has been removed, the crack is rinsed with water. The water not only cleans the crack, but also acts as a reactor and accelerator for the polyurethane, helping it to expand and fill the crack completely.
    6. Crack Sealing: The surface of the crack is covered with hydraulic cement to prevent the polyurethane from leaking during injection, ensuring a hermetic seal.
    7. Polyurethane Injection: The polyurethane is injected at high pressure, ranging from 3,000 to 10,000 PSI. This pressure allows the material to fill all the voids in the concrete, ensuring that the crack is sealed effectively and permanently.
    8. Removal of Ports and Finishing: Once the polyurethane has cured, the injection ports are removed and the holes filled and levelled. We then finish the surface to make it smooth and uniform.
    9. Final Inspection : A final inspection is carried out to ensure that the crack is properly sealed and that the work meets our quality standards.

  • Additional Measures

For deeper foundation cracks, our expert team uses Rhino carbon fibre crack-locking systems, combined with polyurethane, to ensure greater stability and prevent future movement.

This approach strengthens the foundation against external pressures, providing a lasting solution for structural stability and preventing potential damage.
